BSUK awards BHSL grant for ground development
Baseball Softball UK have today confirmed a £5000 award towards development of dedicated softball / baseball facility in Brighton & Hove, the race is now on to finalise a lease agreement with the council and complete the initial development before the end of the current tax year.
Hove Tuesday manager, Jon Sayers, has been working with BSUK and Brighton & Hove City Council on a proposal to redevelop the derelict baseball facility at Waterhall into a dedicated multi-format baseball and softball venue for the benefit of all the clubs in Brighton & Hove.
With the lease agreed in principle, the BHSL are desperate to get the final details sorted out as the award is subject to possesion of a lease, and the money must be spent and work well underway by March 31st 2012.
Speaking about today’s announcement Jon Sayers said “This is fantastic news for our sports in Brighton & Hove and will help us return this venue to its former position as the top ground in the country… Both the city councillors and council staff have been fantastically supportive of our proposal and I’m sure we can get things finalised and the work underway in the next few days.”
